Privacy

AlbumSpin keeps as little about you as it can. Spinning needs no account at all.

Without an account

Nothing is stored about you. Your browser remembers your theme and filters on your own device. When an album turns out to have no cover, the site notes the album (not you) so it is skipped from then on.

With an account

Signing in is only needed for the diary, clubs and rating the album of the day. AlbumSpin then keeps:

  • your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple;
  • the display name you choose, which other members of your clubs see;
  • whose shared diaries you follow, if any;
  • your diary, club ratings, reviews, comments and album of the day scores;
  • for each signed-in session, the IP address and browser it started from, so sessions can be secured. A session ends when you sign out or after a week without use.

Your diary is private unless you turn on Share your diary in your account. That makes a link showing your display name and the albums you have rated, with your scores and reviews, to anyone who has it, and lets signed-in people follow it. Your to-listen list, email address and clubs are never shown. Turning sharing off removes the link and everyone's follow.

AlbumSpin sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and your information is never sold or shared for marketing.

Services AlbumSpin uses

  • Cloudflare runs the site and counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you across sites.
  • Turso holds the database.
  • Resend sends sign-in emails.
  • Google and Apple handle sign-in if you choose them.
  • Your browser loads album covers from the Cover Art Archive and fonts from Google Fonts.

Deleting your account

Go to your account and choose Delete account. Your email, name, diary, shared link, follows, comments and review text are deleted, and you leave every club. Your scores in club rounds stay, without your name, so the averages your clubs saw do not change. You can download your diary first.
